Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer

Progressive Federally Qualified Health Center seeks a Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer to oversee clinics in Duluth, MN and Superior, WI.  Situated on beautiful Lake Superior, Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin offers big city amenities and a small town feel, with all the recreation and outdoors you can stand.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of health care environment, reimbursement, and regulatory requirements.

Ability to understand needs of underserved populations.

Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct programs and service activities.

Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with all disciplines and within the broader community.

        

Experience:

Five to seven years patient care and leadership experience in similar position.

Prior experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Education/licensure/registration:

MD/Board-certified family physician; Master’s in public health, health care or business

administration or related field preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the development of clinical goals, outcomes, and strategies for prevention, acute care and chronic disease management.

Set clinical practice standards/guidelines and quality metrics; be a champion for change to newer and better practices.

Lead the adoption of new technology, e.g. EMR, digital radiography, to improve patient information and care across the continuum (referrals, hospitals, dental).

Work collaboratively with health center leadership to design and implement programs and services to meet identified population needs.

Ensure business objectives are met through improved access and monitoring of productivity; monitor expenditures against budget.

Provide leadership for “best practices” and optimal utilization of resources.

Lead initiatives related to patient-centered medical home development to improve clinical outcomes and increased payments for care coordination.

Lead by developing and cascading the organization’s strategy and mission to all staff; ensure activities are value-added and aligned with community/market need.

Recruit, supervise and manage provider resources including credentialing, annual appraisals, and peer review.

Provide direct clinical care as an integral member of provider staff.
