Women’s Health
The Lake Superior Community Health Center offers a full range of
specialty services for women at every stage of life, including: routine
gynecologic care, family planning, breast health, and menopause.
Services include:
- Physicals
- Routine check-ups
- Health care when sick or injured
- Vaccinations
- Monitoring and treatment of chronic illness (ex: high blood pressure,
diabetes, asthma)
- Mental health needs
- Preventative care
- Access to medications
- Laboratory services
- Assisted referrals are provided for services such as specialty
care
- Health education
- Foot care
- Pelvic exams
- Clinical breast exams
- Pap tests
- Colposcopy
- Risk reduction education
- Birth Control
- Pregnancy testing
- Assisted referrals for prenatal care and delivery
- STD testing & treatment / HIV
& Hepatitis testing
Free / Low- Cost Health Services for Women
There are 2 programs available for Minnesota residents and 2 programs
for Wisconsin residents. Services can be obtained through the
Lake Superior Community Health Center.
Minnesota SAGE Program
The SAGE Program (formerly the Minnesota Breast and Cervical Cancer
Control Program - MBCCCP) provides free breast and cervical cancer screening
and follow-up services to uninsured and underinsured women over the

Minnesota Family Planning Program
Women or men between the ages of 15 – 50 can receive free family planning office visits and education, birth control, sterilizations, and diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases found during a family planning visit. Click here for eligibility and benefits information.
Wisconsin Family Planning Waiver Program
Uninsured women between the ages of 15 – 44 can receive free pregnancy testing and counseling, reproductive health exams & tests and birth control methods & supplies. Click here for eligibility and benefits information.
Wisconsin Well Woman Program
The Wisconsin Well Woman Program provides breast and cervical cancer screening services to uninsured or underinsured women between the ages of 45 - 64. If additional tests or treatment are needed, these may also be covered under the program if the woman is enrolled at the time of the screening. Click here for eligibility and benefits information.
